The North Staffordshire GP Federation was established in 2015 with the core purpose of providing an overarching membership and provider organisation that represented all GP practices across North Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
The Federation’s key objectives were to support core General Practice through projects and initiatives that promote sustainability, to help secure a thriving future for General Practice across the region and to provide an at scale delivery arm for services within Primary Care.
At the time of establishment, there were more than 80 GP practices serving the populations of North Staffordshire, including Stoke-on-Trent, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and the Staffordshire Moorlands, collectively providing services to over 500,000 patients. We now serve a patient population of over 560,000 across 65 GP practices.
We currently deliver numerous services on behalf of our member practices and Primary Care Networks, operating at Basford House our headquarters, or at various hub locations across the region. We deliver services on behalf of UHNM based at both Royal Stoke and County Hospital in Stafford. We work in partnership with local not for profit/charitable organisations supporting a Veterans healthcare service and delivering the Homeless Healthcare service. We are the contract holders for Meir Park and Weston Coyney Medical Practice, operating the surgery from two sites and finally we support ‘at scale’ delivery of other services such as GLP-1 and Spirometry.
The Federation is a Private Company Limited by Guarantee without share capital, registered in England and Wales (Company Number: 09685712), and operates under a not-for-profit constitution. Our Articles of Association clearly define our purpose and the principles upon which we operate.
Unlike many organisations, we do not have shareholders and are therefore not driven by profit. We are committed to doing the right thing for the patients we serve and for our member practices. This enables us to invest our time, expertise, and resources into initiatives that support the wider health community and deliver benefits for the “greater good”.
